El Cheapo Photography

Sep 19

With the downfall in the economy it is comprehensible that one would seek to cut costs, wedding planning included. However cutting cost of photography should be your last resort. It would not bore me to be repetitive and reiterate as many times required until the message is understood: Your photography is an investment once acquired; it becomes priceless.

In reference to photography, not only wedding photography, I present to you a website dedicated to the value of photography.

Browse through this website. You’ll find much information concerning the value of photography.

The Last Day Of Summer Vacation

Sep 15

This post is long overdue, the busy schedule that I have contributed to this. However better late than never.

The first day of school was on August 18th, 2008. The kids always requested to go to the Atlantis Submarines, so I told them on the last day of the summer vacation that I had a special treat for them.
They kept asking me where we were going and my repetitive response was “Crazy”

So when we pulled up at Atlantis Submarines they were all excited. Here are a few images of the big day.

This is the Submarine on surface with a surface officer on deck.

Mariela making the opening speech to the Adventure

This is the Co Pilot on the submarine, I just can’t remember his name.

Oscar Perez, a long time colleague of mine.

Ishaq anxiously enjoying the ride to the submarine.

Shaydee is still trying to figure out if she wants to do this or not, in the end it all worked out fine. She had a blast.

Naeem showing all teeth….

After the submarine I was not in the mood to cook so I told them we would eat out for lunch. Yep, Champions Sports Bar.

Shaydee entertaining herself while the food is on it’s way.

Ishaq attentively coloring away. This is something Ishaq detested 2 years ago.

Naeem making sure he takes his time and that he stays within the line.

Mini burgers from the kids menu. This was not a challenge for any of the kids. They went through like a hurricane.

This was my BLT Chicken Wrap. This was great.

A genral recap of the day:

Atlantis Submarines is awesome like always, especially if you’re not a diver and have kids they will enjoy it tremendously. Going down to 130 ft is a thrill on it’s own and the marine life is awesome.

Champions Sports Bar is great, you have screens all sizes with all sports so in general a great hangout for all ages.

Happy Birthday Shaydee

Sep 14

Today is Shaydee’s 8th Birthday.

It is a custom here that on the kids birthday they get their own cake. As soon as the birthday boy or girl rise, which is ussually before the sun, we all gather and sing happy birthday around the cake. The birthday boy or girl would then do the honors in biting off a piece of the cake.

Here is Shaydee taking part in tradition.

May God richly bless, keep and protect you and many happy returns.

She would not have a birthday party today but it was postponed for a week as Shayenne would then have a couple days at home and then we can prepare something in the right way for her.

Blessings,

Madame Janette

Sep 13

I’ve had the pleasure of dining at Madam Janette, one of Aruba’s top restaurants. Depends on the time of year, you’ll have to make a reservation way in advance to get in. It is still not a restaurant that you can call today to get a reservation for today.

Fortunately, I know people that know people.
A call was made a few nights ago and since we were 2 and the time of year is right we’ve managed to get a late reservation. (Highly unlikely situation) This is not the norm, I usually don’t eat late and I guess all stars were in line for a great evening of dining. Getting a reservation for anytime at Madame Janette is not to be turned down as this is not the benchmark.

The ambiance in Madam Janette A+, you’ll definitely score high taking your wife, fiance, girlfriend or just friend as the food is awesome. My experience confirmed that they were not just handed the many awards that they display but they really deserved them.

Gold Medals 2004/2005 Rising Culinary Star of the Year.
Best Restaurant of the Caribbean – Caribbean Travel Life Magazine Annual Reader’s Poll
Two Gold Medals – Les Amis d’Escoffier
Best Restaurant 2004-2006 – Aruba Trade Wind Times
Are among some of the awards that they were presented.

This is the cool looking menu.

Janette’s Homemade Crab Cakes, served with chef’s spicy island Aioli.

Madam’s hot shrimp in a petite casserole.

Shayenne have me displaying my “Head Rockstar” symbol.

The old butcher Lamb Rack, overnight marinated in a secret marinade, invented by our chef’s father, grilled to perfection, served in it’s own juices.

Almond Grouper, a fine grouper fillet in a coat of almonds served with a cream spinach sauce.
This was awesome, it’s said that this is the most ordered dish.

This shows you how excited she (Shayenne) was about taking pictures this time around.

Dessert was pineapple sauteed in Morgan’s Rum with a scoop of Vanilla Ice Cream. (Not sure if it was Morgan’s, I think so though. Nevertheless, it tasted awesome.

Our servers were Sergio and Thomas (I Hope it’s spelled right), these guys were awesome. Anytime you go there, request them.

Seasen & DJ’s “Trash The Dress” Session.

Sep 12

This was Seasen & DJ’s first wedding anniversary and their second trip to Aruba. Seasen promised DJ if he participated in this one venture that she had planned, he would be spoiled beyond the conventional the entire week that they were on the island.

DJ being the man that he is, being a good sport and always attending to his wife’s yearning, selflessly acquiesced with her desire.

We got together pretty early one morning and headed out with a few guideline plans in mind and this is a compilation of the result of the day.

I must add that the dress was not ruined. By now it has probably been to the cleaners and it’s just as good as new and she has some great images in her wedding gown.

Trash The Dress

Sep 11

Trash the dress, is a controversial but yet trendy terminology for brides posing for non traditional photos without fearing getting their wedding gown dirty or wet.

This trend started a few years ago where the “grandfather” of TTD, Master John Micheal Cooper ( www.altf.com ) posted an image of a bride on fire on a photographer’s forum that we hang out at. Since that first image, the trend caught on like wild fire. Photographers worldwide offer these sessions.

Interests in these sessions have led to the creation of www.trashthedress.com by Mark Eric
Trash the dress, the website, was created specifically to showcase the work of photographers doing these sessions.

There exists a divided sentiment in the general public when it comes to “Trash The Dress” Most people find it a cool thing to do, some have the bogus thought of it being ridiculous to destroy your wedding dress. And there’s a little group on the fence that find it cool to do but can’t muster up the courage to do it yet.

Most brides intellectualize the idea by saying that they’re going to get married only once and this shows loyalty to their husband that they will never need the gown again. In most cases after a “Trash The Dress” session the gown would go to the cleaners and come back as good as new. Some then store the gown but many donate it to a non profit organization “Brides Against Breast Cancer”

I’ve done a few of these sessions in the past, I’ll be officially offering these sessions as of immediately. Send me an email requesting information and I’ll be much delighted to assist you in getting some exotic images of you in your wedding gown.

Blessings,

Bryan Morris
