Holiday Archives
Last year I’ve blogged about Easter, and how the celebration is not about Easter eggs and bunnies.
I was heavily considering if I should post about Easter and if I do so, what should I post about. I’ve gotten a release this morning on if I should blog and what I should blog about.
Since this is a Christian Holiday I’ll delve into Christianity a little. The day today that is being celebrated is the basis of Christianity. This is where it all started. I did not start with the birth of Jesus, nor His crucifixion which are also very important dates but it however started here at Easter at His resurrection. What good would His birth be if He didn’t choose to die for us? What good would his death be if He didn’t rise from the dead with all power (Hell, Death and the Grave) in his hand.
We agree that God, the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit are three different people but however still at the same time they’re one. We might also agree that God is omniscient, that’s just a fancy word for all knowing. Do we agree that he is omnipotent? OK, I hope you’re not confused by now as this is not really easy to comprehend with the human mind. This is very spiritual.
Since God the father is the same God the son and is omniscient, means that he knew what his purpose here on earth was, besides he came into this earth fully aware of all the hard times and heartaches he would have to go through. He however left all the luxuries of heaven to come to earth and endure all He’s endured for mankind.
Can you wrap your mind around the thought? YOU are so special that He left all the luxuries in heaven to come to earth and die for mankind. He thinks really high of you. Reading this part I thought of two things:
1. Would you love someone so much that you can return the favor back to them? Leaving all luxuries behind, to be ridiculed, falsely accused, cursed, spat upon, beaten and finally crucified? That must’ve taken allot of love. We at times don’t even want to leave from behind the TV to give a neighbor a ride down the street in the pouring rain.
2. If God thinks so high of you, why do you allow other people to disrespect you and treat you like dirt all in the name of love. If you’re in a relationship and your partner abuse you verbally or physically simply means it’s time for you to move on as you totally don’t deserve it and he/she don’t really love you as you don’t abuse a loved one.
You are special to God and me.
Happy Easter,
Bryan Morris
On March 18th, 1948 during a Netherlands-Suriname-Curacao conference in the Hague, the seeds of independence and a National Day for Aruba were sown by the then Aruban leader Shon A. Eman who presented a petition signed by more than 2000 Arubans in favor of independence.
Almost thirty years later during a parliamentary session on March 16th, 1976, it was agreed that March 18th would be Aruba’s National Day - the day to celebrate Aruba’s national anthem and flag and this was celebrated for the first time in 1976.
Exactly 10 years later, in 1986 also on this important date, Aruba celebrated the achievement by Betico Croes of a dream that had been three generations in the making - Status Aparte - an autonomous status withing the kingdom of the Netherlands. On this date in 1996, a monument was inaugurated in remembrance of the 2.147 people who, back in 1947 and 1948 had signed a petition in favor of Status Aparte.
Aruba’s National Anthem, “Aruba Dushi Tera” is a waltz composed by Juan Chabaya “Padu” Lampe (lyrics) and Rufo Wever (music)
The Aruba flag has four colors: Bunting Yellow, Larkspur (or U.N.) Blue, Union Jack Red and White. The flag of Aruba consists of a red star with white outline set against a sea-blue background with two parallel yellow stripes.
The star symbolizes the four points of the compass, denoting the varied source of more than 40 nationalities living in Aruba. Each of these colors is significant: the color RED symbolizes love for the country and the WHITE outline surrounding it represents the white sandy beaches around Aruba as well as the purity of Aruba’s inhabitants who respect justice, freedom and righteousness. The BLUE color of the flag denotes the color of the surrounding sea.
The TWO yellow stripes on the flag denote the free position of Aruba with respect to the Netherlands and other islands while maintaining closeness with them.
The YELLOW color is used to symbolize abundance - as evidenced by the sources of economic and industrial prosperity, representing the island’s past and present industries of gold, aloë, tourism, the oil refinery and so forth.

I want to wish you all a happy valentine’s day today and may you express your love to your loved ones more than ever today.
Valentine’s day is not about having a man or a woman (In the sexual sense) in your life. So if you don’t have that special person (That society deems special), don’t sweat it. You definitely have special people in your life. Your mom or dad, brother, sister, aunt, uncle, cousin, son or daughter so celebrate this day with them.
This day is about love it’s not only about being romantic, so you can definitely love without being romantic and still have a great time. No need to separate yourself from the crowd today, join in like everyone else because I’m sure that you’re loved by at least one person.
Enjoy the day,
Bryan Morris
Did I say that I’m proud of my wife.
I don’t want to sound cocky, but since my wife started really started baking about 18 months to 2 years ago. I don’t eat cake/cookies from everybody. She has a real touch for baking. She was so caught up and having fun yesterday. She left to work came back and continued. I don’t even know what time she came into bed. Last I know it was 2 AM and she was still busy.
Move over, here comes Shayenne.
See a little of her Valentine’s day creations.

These were created for the kid’s teachers and some very special friends.

These were done for her colleagues
If you’re ever in need of anything like this for a special person, send me an email. I’ll hook you up.
Blessings,
Bryan Morris
Guys, you know we are always to blame for not being romantic. Let’s show the ladies that we’re alright this Valentines.
This Valentine, I have a recipe to make your girlfriend, fiance or wife weak in the knee.
No it’s not a rock. You wouldn’t even spend as much as $5 on this and trust me she’ll cherish this more than a $20.000 rock.
It’s easy, make here this hand crafted valentine’s day card and just write a note from your heart in this card. Not just “I love you” but put a few meaningful sentences in their from your heart and see the results……
The trick in this is that it’s all personalized and then to put the “icing on the cake” you’ve created it yourself from scratch.
Here’s the link to the card, go have some fun. Let me know how this went.
Edit:
I was studying this post after I’ve published it and thought, if you really want to nail it home and have your loved one locked for ever, love you forever never forget about Valentine’s day 2008.
Along with the card, make her dinner don’t take her out. That is easy, that is the thing everybody’s doing.
Candle light, nice wine, homemade cooking.
Trust me on this one. Dude you’ll be the talk of the town the day after Valentine’s.
All her friends discussing what they did for Valentine’s day and then she step up stating that her Valentine’s was tailor made.
You wouldn’t really even need dessert ’cause you’ll be the dessert.
Drop me a few notes and let me know how did it go.
Blessings,
Bryan Morris

I’ve been tracking my stats on my blog and I see that I get quite a few visits daily, both unique as well as repeat hits. It would be nice to receive some “blog love” as well. By “blog love” I mean you can leave comments and even suggestions of what info you would like to see on the blog. That is the only way I’ll know if you’re enjoying it or if I should make some adjustments. This information is especially to you living off island and has the desire to or getting married here on the island. I fully understand that it can be a bit frustrating planning for your long awaited day so far. To avoid this stress, I would advise to visit the island and all your vendors before your big day if this would fit in your budget.
Valentine’s Day
Valentine’s Day is coming up. I’ll dedicate these few days leading up to that special day to all those in love or those that would like to be.

This is not such a big celebration here on the island of Aruba. Tourism is by far the biggest industry here on Aruba and the Americans (Thank You!) make up the largest percentage of tourists visiting Aruba, so thanksgiving is however still celebrated on Aruba to some extent.
I would personally like to wish you all a happy Thanksgiving.
I know that Thanksgiving is all about celebration with your family and eating a hearty portion of food. Today as you celebrate Thanksgiving with your loved ones, don’t forget to whisper a prayer giving God thanks for everything in your life.
“In every thing give thanks for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.”1Th 5:18
The part I want to really stress on from this scripture is the first part, “In every thing give thanks…..” In the good, give thanks, in the bad, give thanks.
Be blessed this Thanksgiving,
Bryan Morris
