Being the wedding and portrait photographer that I am I don’t fancy conducting sessions at the same location over and over. Aruba portrays an abundance of options in locations for photography hence my attempt at constantly exploring locations. This session was in the Wilhelmina Park in downtown Oranjestad, close to Aruba Renaissance Ocean Suites.

This is my cousin’s daughter that I agreed to photograph. At first it seemed like it would’ve of been a treacherous task but once we got into it she cooperated nicely.

This is the mom striking a pose during the session as well.

Mother and daughter expressing some love always makes for a beautiful portrait especially with one of the many backdrops that are available here on the beautiful island of Aruba.

Nothing is better than a little finger after a long photo session!

Blessings,

Bryan Morris

Best Friends Forever a.k.a BFF

Jul 12

This group has been together since playschool. They are now being separated after being best friends for the greater part of their lives. They’re already expressing how difficult the separation would be. Destiny has just made it that way that they have to part but I’m convinced that the alienation will only enforce the bond that currently exist. They’ve decided to shoot a few pics together before the separation and it was my turn to document this moment. It was really an honor for me to be able to capture such a strong friendship.

We’ve searched out an awesome location for portraits and found this abandoned school. One man’s garbage is another’s treasure. This location is so cool for photography I would say don’t tear down all abandoned buildings as they serve a calming purpose.

Aruba is a photographer’s heaven for locations. We don’t suffer an insufficiency in color. Therefore having a studio tends to get boring. Don’t get me wrong a studio has it’s time and place but outdoors on Aruba has so much to offer. It’s just awe-inspiring!

Here you have the 3 friends; Christina, Francine and Talitha.

Striking a pose.

I love this shot of Christina and Talitha. They’ve even had their own props. Awesome!

As they are three friends I tag this one as “I’ve got your back”

Bryan Morris

Mr & Mrs Miller tied the knot 20 years ago and decided to come to Aruba for the first time with their two beautiful daughters Amanda and Alyssa to celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary. I love meeting people who’s been here for the first time and question them on the island. One of my first questions to them was how they find the island. and the response was, It’s so much better than many of the other island’s they’ve visited. On behalf of the entire island of Aruba and it’s inhabitants I would like to thank you for choosing Aruba as your celebration destination. Many more wedding anniversaries. Know that now you’ve officially found friends on this side of the world.

Of course they wanted to be documented in Paradise so I took them out on the Palm Beach area and partly around the Fisherman’s Huts on Aruba for some family portraits.

The entire Family Miller just casually posing for a portrait on Palm Beach, Aruba.

Alyssa and Amanda showing some sisterly love.

It’s been 20 years but I still love you like it’s day one!

Daddy’s girl, all proud of how you’ve grown.

Mommy’s Baby is always there under her wings.

Amanda’s showing that she has all elements in place to be a model.

Alyssa’s won’t stay behind in the world of fashion either, what a better team than 2 sisters.

This should give Dina, butterflies all over again. Eric is a good thing I don’t follow my clients. You look all studly here.

Here’s to another 20 years! This was a shot specifically requested by the kids.

On to many more 20 years as one happy family.

Blessings,

Bryan Morris

Sarah and George

Nov 12

Sarah and George are active divers and they were celebrating their 4th wedding anniversary so they decided to stop by the One Happy Island for a few days to start off their celebration then flew over to the Diver’s Paradise for 9 days to dive all day long. Upon contacting me I’ve asked Sarah what she wanted as a backdrop but that was left totally up to me so I decided to go at an area where we have the best of both worlds.

Sarah and George were a blast. I encouraged George to be just a little naughty (which wasn’t too hard for him to do) to start the sparks flowing and that really reflects in their images.

George just can’t keep his hands off Sarah and I don’t give him wrong, she’s a beautiful lady in and out and she’s his wife.

I thank God continually for the great family that I have. My kids are healthy and well behaved. My wife’s health and mine could not have been better. A little over weight, yes but we’ve started collectively to work on this we’re determined to be fit within the next year or so. You’ll be hearing about this as I will attempt to start a complete other blog documenting my progress. I’m blessed to live on Aruba where people save an entire year to come and visit. I have the best job in the world as a photographer, documenting weddings, engagements, shooting family portraits. It’s been all work and no play for me but I’m working out a plan that will allow me to slow down a little. Over the summer my kids pinned me in a corner (figuratively of course) and demanded that I take their pictures. I’ve obliged, what was there to do. These are my kids and they’re great. I want to say the best in the world but I haven’t traveled the world over yet but I dare if they’re not the best in the world they are pretty close and to me they are already there. Ah forget it! They ARE the best in the world, it’s my blog right?

I’ve placed this one on my fb page as a teaser I really like it and I must say I”m enjoying B/W lately.

I has been quite a few months ago that Mr Daly and I was back and forth by email trying to set this family portrait session up.  After we’ve had it set up, I was just waiting for the day to show up at our agreed spot in order to head off to a spot and go through the session. Mr Daly entrusted me with the choice of location and as I don’t have a lack of locations here on the island it was easy for me to decide to use a location that I’ve scouted out a few days prior. I prefer not to shoot at the same location over and over and we have a great variety of locations here on the island so I constantly look out for unused locations as I’m out and about. No two photoshoots are supposed to be alike. There might be one or two staple shots but not more than that, I constantly strive to have a different look on every shoot.

So upon meeting the Daly family at their resort one early morning we’ve went out to the Arashi Beach area. Right away I’ve realized that they were an easy going family and the kids were good sports. Rushing to meet Family Daly, I’ve had 2 bloopers. Blooper#1 , I’ve placed everything in the car and thought that my wife put one box with my flashes in it in the car which was not so Mr Daly drove me home to get the flash and then upon getting to Arashi I’ve realized that I left over 40 GB of Flash Cards at my desk so again I had to go home and get them. Thankfully I live pretty close in the area. Mr Daly is so accommodating that he gave me his car to go and get my cards while they explore the Arashi Beach, that’s just how cool he is. Thanks again Mr Daly.

I must say on behalf of myself and my team mate Shayenne we’ve had a blast. I really didn’t feel like stopping although we were bound to a certain time limit but I just love my job and once I get into it I use my subjects merciless. I won’t stop until they have enough of me. Thankfully they allow me to abuse of the situation as it benefits them all the more. They’ll have a greater variety of shots to choose from.

Here you have the entire Family Daly.

Nicole and Sean jsut being casual under a tree while I experiment my strobist technique.

Now this Jen being all cool in Aruba.

The family portrait was the emphasis of the day so I’ve had different takes on it but not one of the regular same old casual way.

Here you have Sean and Jen getting it down in Aruba’s wild life.

Now, to be honest this is my most favorite shot of this shoot. The reason for this I want to believe is the lens used here.

This is a staple of mine, I do it from time to time.

Here you have Jen and Nicole, big sister little sister together.

Another twist on the family portrait.

As we started I was warned by the family but it was  Sean who emphasized that he loves to make goofy faces so we made a deal that if he not make goofy faces during the shoot I will give him a chance to make a goofy face, which I did. It was not that all goofy either to be honest I really liked it.

Here’s another family portait taken at the tree at Arashi Beach.

Bryan Morris

Imara Thomas

Aug 24

Imara was preparing to come to Aruba for vacation when she contacted me and arranged a photo shoot.  Besides being a great photo shoot, this one came with a lesson attached and I’ve decided to share this with you. I usually go into shoots with an idea more or less of what’s each client’s desire, this was not the case here. My creativity was stretched. One does not know their true potential until they like the eaglet be dropped from a height and notice that in uncertainty they are really  able to soar. I’m very happy how this  turned out. And I challenge you today to go out and do something you’re not perfectly comfortable with and see what the results are. I would say this is one of my best sessions and this is not all because of me but the subject is stunning, the location breathtaking and the willingness and determination of the subject is like no other. If you want beautiful images you have to hang out on a limb a little. The effort is well worth it.  Aruba offers a variety of awesome backdrops but at times it will take a little effort to get to them especially if you want great images in fancy clothing or wedding dresses etc. These were taken at the Gold Mine Ruins after Imara have seen the maternity session I’ve done at this very same location. Enjoy.

Blessings,

Bryan Morris

Family Bertus

Aug 17

Mr. Bertus did me a favor earlier this year and brought me some light modifiers and after getting them here safely I promised that I would’ve returned that favor and document his family. My schedule was a bit booked so I didn’t fulfill my promise until recently. It was a real pleasure to document Family Bertus. I’ve chosen to go to a section of the island that I haven’t shot at myself before, just in hopes of getting a different perspective of the island.

Zayenne giving the world a hug!

Ciomay, striking a pose.

Did it occur to you that I enjoy flare?

Mr and Mrs Bertus at their finest.

Zayenne and Ciomay just sitting pretty.

Love is in the air. As I see this my mind goes to the song from Paul John Young.

A different edit to my usual. I like it what do you think?

From mom to dad back to mom again.

Birds of a feather flock together. That’s what they say, right!

Just had to get some sunset action.

Family Conner

Mar 20

From the multiple family portrait requests I receive, I had the pleasure of documenting a very grounded, easy going  family here in Aruba while enjoying their vacation at the Aruba Marriott Ocean Club for a week. I took them out to the eagle beach and had a blast with them for about an hour.

Family Conner On The Beach In Aruba

Kameron, a cool kid with his baby sister  Abby at sunset in Aruba.

Didn’t I say this kid is cool, here he’s with his mom.

Now, this is one of the new trnds that I’ve decided to get into for this year as mentioned in a earlier post. Here you have a retro, weathered look of a portrait of Abby.

This is another version of the family portrait at sunset at the Eagle Beach Aruba.

Kameron the real surfer dude, just hangin’ loose.

Abby in a cooperative moment.

This photo will be treasured for years t come. I see this surfacing at her wedding. A real bonding moment.

Good, times!
