Arco Iris Kleuter School II

Jul 11

I have quite a few great images of Naeem’s class. I’ve repositioned myself and eliminated the battle with the other parents around with cameras to get a shot.

The show was a reenactment on a remix of 4 local kids songs.

A portrait of the fire fighter Naeem.

This little guy is such a showman. He was the MC of the entire show for his class, thus Naeem’s class.  Way before the event while all was getting on stage he got up probably first and started to pace the stage like the MC that he is. Here are a few shots of him.

These are the ants just getting on stage.

Here is an ants on the attack with a candy.

This is another happy ant. I shake his hand everyday as I get to the school to pick up Naeem. Every fiber of his being exudes adventure in a big way. The teacher certainly earned her wages with him. Cute kid nevertheless.

This is one of the cars making an entry to the city.

Here is the sailor asking the girl in the city to marry him.

The cars moving through the city streets.

The construction team coming on site to build a house.

Construction crew at work.

This is the little fires that came to destroy the house because the MC was playing with matches.

Mikaila having fun on stage.

This little fire really put her heart in her performance, I really enjoyed her.

Firefighters approaching the scene in their firetruck of course.

Firefighters doing what they do best…….Fight fire!

Fires coming under submission to the fire fighters.

After they’ve extinguished the fire they’ve decided that things got hot so they were cooling off the crowd.

Arco Iris Kleuter School

Jul 10

Arco Iris Kleuter School celebrated 55 years of existence this year. They’ve organized a show to simultaneously celebrate the school’s existence and raise funds to complete the restoration of the playground. They’ve used recycling as a theme of the show. Props were constructed from recycled material.

Shannon Bueno opened the show singing Aruba’s anthem.

This is Ishaq on his way to the stage, notice his vest mad of pop/ beer covers

Kiki ripping up the stage.

OK here, Ishaq disengaged from the show and enjoying the take off of the helium filled balloons they let go.

This is Chloe, another of Ishaq’s classmates.

Ishaq, as soon as he came off the stage.

Quote Of The Week

You are more than peoples opinions - T.D. Jakes

Read it over and over if you have to, just make sure it sinks in.
Don’t let any man like you with all their faults and shortcomings conclude you.
You are much greater than that.

Running Of The Brides

Jul 08

Filene’s basement is synonymous to bargains. They have bargains on everything from fashions to home goods. The store is most famous for it’s annual Running Of The Bride event. This is where brides to be line up hours before the stores opening time with their team to get designer bride gowns at a bargain, saving hundreds and sometimes thousands of dollars.

Filene’s basement had been occasionally selling wedding gowns since 1908. This annual one day wedding gown sale dates back to 1947. Back then the event used to be much tamer than today.

On any particular event there will be anywhere between 1300 to 2500 gowns depending on the store. Discounted prices of these gowns are from $249 to $699 while original prices range from $900 to $9000 and sometimes even more. The original price are always present on the dress so clients can see the bargain instantly.

Filene’s basement get these gowns from the manufacturers of most famous labels. They’ve developed great contacts in the wedding gown industry. The dresses become available for a variety of reasons e.g. Canceled Orders, Canceled Wedding, A small shop needing space for new gowns etc…….

More To Come

Jul 07

There are great schools here on the island of Aruba, but there are some that succeeds way above the other and Arco Iris Klueter School is definitely one of them. Ishaq and Naeem goes to this kindergarten.

On Friday evening they’ve had the 55 anniversary of the school and ofcourse I was there to cover this. You’ll see more of this later on in the week.

Here is one of Shayenne and Naeem giving the crazy eye. I really like how this looked.

Since the last weeks’s sunset was so much loved and it makes many think of the island. I’ll post another sunset shot.

This was taken from my back yard.

I must also add that this entire week we’ve been having superb sunsets. I’ll try and go out and play later today. I have an idea going around my head for some time already.

Enjoy your Sunday.

Pole Dance To A Stronger Marriage

Jul 05

I’m a true believer in keeping the flame in your marriage and this approach keeps you and your partner from boring yourselves and ultimately start to wander.

Whenever your life in the bedroom becomes monotonous and you start counting the tiles in the ceiling or thinking of bills is a sign that you have to start switching up a bit.

I’ve recently found a phenomenon that will take off like wildfire. This idea is so awesome as it teaches you to switch up and at the same time burn calories and tone up your body. While you do all this, you’ll be healthier, have a healthier marriage and less stress as we all know that exercise reduces stress.

The ladies at Aradia Fitness are now offering lap dancing, pole dancing, sexy exercise and even strip tease classes. They have quite a few gyms in Canada and they’ve recently opened a few in the US. This sensation is pretty new but I can imagine it becoming something big and spreading all over the US and the world.

If you don’t have them in your area yet you can get the DVD, a pole and you’re good to go, practice in the comfort of your own home.

This is also a great idea for that bride to be to de-stress, shed those last pounds before the wedding, tone up and practice for her honeymoon.

Happy 4th of July

Scala

Jul 03

Scala is a restaurant that is now open a little over a year in the brand new Paseo Herencia Mall.

I’ve had the pleasure of repeating my dining experience there about a week ago. This was one of my first restaurant visits for the year. It then never crossed my mind to have a restaurant review on my blog so I did not take a good camera and the images were not of the quality accustomed to on the blog so I never posted them.

I’ve had this guilty feeling as this was a great experience and I didn’t get a chance to showcase it so I just had to rebound.

The second time around seemed even better than the first as I got to talk to Alex, the restaurant’s manager in person and he gave me the inside scoop.

The restaurant is great and big. You have the option of sitting inside in the AC, outside on the balcony or on the street side downstairs just like in Italy or France.

Service is awesome, you’re treated like the royalty that you are. Lila our waiter was exceptional, very attentive.

The ambience differ, due to the different levels. Inside and on the balcony in a private corner can be very romantic. On the balcony more open and downstairs on the walkway it can be very much casual. It’s amazing to see one establishment but it can still offer different ambience simultaneously.

Here’s is a more graphic view of the dinner that we’ve had.

Escargot a la Scala was for Shayenne, of course I had to taste it I’m going to give the review, right.

Seafood Chowder for moi

Reef and Beef for wifey, the traditional Surf and Turf but they came up with a funky name for it.

Reef and Beef

I’ve had the scampi stuffed grouper, Ooh La La…..

I’m not a drinker, I might have a wine or two during dinner but that’s it. We were just tempted to try the Baileys Martini after dinner, which we did.

A portrait of me, I told you Shay is starting to get a hang of the camera.

Shayenne all smiles after the Baileys Martini, happy as a clam!

Talking to Alex, I’ve learned that they have the have a Chocolate Martini, and urged us to try it. You would probably hear about a Chocolate Martini and envision a brown drink, well at Scala you’re wrong. He brought us a clear drink with 1 Kisses chocolate at the bottom. This drink was so chocolaty, that it amazes me.

You noticed I don’t have a picture of dessert, I did have desert, Brownie a la Mode. Deep in conversation it came to my table and I bit a few chunks of it. I’ve remembered the day after that I didn’t take a shot or two of it.

My general take of the restaurant is AWESOME.

Life = Risk

I usually post a quote in this section but I’ve found this video online a few days ago and thought it a great inspiration to put on the blog. If you don’t succeed the first time, try again.
